Throughout my life, from a young man to an old fart, I’ve been fortunate to gain insight and knowledge from conversations with people of all ages—often those older and wiser than me. Now, having crossed the 80-year mark, I find myself in the role of the ‘old guy,’ and perhaps there’s something in my stories and reflections that others might find meaningful. Rather than gathering everyone in person for a big celebration—or asking my friends to travel during a pandemic—I decided to mark this milestone by sharing a catalogue of short videos during a 3-day live webcast. What began as a birthday project became a way to gather my thoughts, refine some of the conversations I’ve had over the years, and offer them here as ‘Almost 80’—a late-life project of shared wisdom.
